VERY DIRTY DEN

Leslie Grantham is no doubt breathing a sigh of relief today, as it looks like he won't be getting the boot from EastEnders for pleasuring himself on the internet and calling his co-stars nasty names.
We're quite glad about that too – it would set a dangerous precendent if the BBC were to start sacking people for talking dirty on MSN Messenger, and there would be quite a few others joining him in the dole queue.
Perhaps it would have been for the best, though. Den's storylines have been reasonably strong since his return, and EastEnders has been a bit better over the last couple of weeks than it has been in recent months. But that might be about to change for him.
After all, the producers appear to take great delight in heaping indignity after indignity on the actors who have brought the show into disrepute – remember the hilarious demise of Fat Barry after Sean Williamson pissed them off? So the day when Den is involved in some kind of comedy plot which would see him sumo wrestling with Jim Branning in the Queen Vic to decide who wins a jar of Dot Cotton's home-made jam is probably not that far away.
Our money's on Jim to win.

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
