FUCK ME FACTS!
Amazing things about Thursday, April 29:
» Swedish-born American inventor Gideon Sundback patented the zip fastener in its modern form in 1913. Earlier versions had not been entirely successful. We hope it's not because the teeth were previously razor-sharp or anything; that doesn't bear thinking about . . .
» Two years ago, a prisoner in Roermund became stuck in the hatch of a cell door as he tried to escape. Police used oil, then soap and water, in an attempt to prise him free. The fire brigade were finally called after his clothes were removed and using "brute force" failed to free him.
» On the same day it was revealed that former Boyzone star Keith Duffy would be appearing in Coronation Street, initially for a six-episode stint.
» Happy birthday to: The Queen Vic's best ever landlady, Anita Dobson (55), Grease 2 starlet Michelle Pfieffer (47), slender ass-kicking actree Uma Thurman (34), and former S-Clubber Jo O'Meara (25).
» Feeling sporty? Have a massive great big racquet? Then why not take part in the badminon horse trials in Gloucestershire, which run until May 2. Oh, hang on a minute, they take place IN Badminton. How disappointing . . .
