TANYA'S BLONDE HIGHLIGHTS

All the TV that's mad, bad, or just a little bit evil for Friday. Our Tiny Tanya Turner ratings show just how low each show goes – the more Tanyas a show scores, the more mental it is.
» SLICK! House Doctor: A-Z Of Design, Five, 8.00pm
She may no longer be followed around everywhere by Alistair Appleton (more's the pity), but straight-talking Ann Maurice is still our favourite of the design divas. With that in mind, we're looking forward to this 16-part series where she'll run through the dos and don'ts of interior design in a nice, logical manner. It's A tonight, obviously, but we're wondering what on earth she'll find to talk about when she gets to Z. Zealots of interior design, maybe? Or Zebra stripes?
» TRICK! Derren Brown: Trick Of The Mind, Channel 4, 9.30pm
Following on from the live Russian roulette and seance shows, Derren's back to doing some of his more traditional (which is a word that doesn't sit very well with what he does, but it's the best word we've got right now, so stop looking at us like that) trickery. One interesting twist to the new series is that there will also be tricks involving celebrities, and for this opener Derren will be tackling Spaced and Shaun Of The Dead star Simon Pegg. Maybe he was better off with the zombies...
» QUICK! Best Bits Of Catherine Tate, BBC2, 10.00pm
"Am I bothered? Am I bothered though? Does my face look bothered?" In what we hope is a taster for the new series, BBC2 are treating us to some highlights from the first series of the sketch show. We'll be looking out for defensive teenager Lauren, the foul-mouthed Nan, Bunty, the oldest majorette in the Doncaster Spinners, and the annoying woman in the office who makes you guess how much her holiday cost. Sit back and enjoy, and await the new series, which we promise is going to be a corker.

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
