FUCK ME FACTS!
Like it or lump it, the hard drive's back up and running, so here are some amazing things about Thursday, April 22:
» Get this: In 1997 the ITC actually TOLD OFF ITV for "swamping" its output with soap operas and drama at the expense of arts programmes and documentaries in 1997. What a terrible state we'd be in if they'd actually listened.
» Saudi Arabia held the first beauty contest for camels, Miss Dromedary, in 1995. "Ooh, look at the humps on her," the judges may have said. In Arabic, presumably.
» A photo-finish was used for the first time in 1947, at Epsom. Using an Epson? Possibly not . . .
» In a 1967 poll to find the most popular Monkee, poor Mike Newsmith only attracted 7% of votes. Aww, throw the boy a peanut.
» Happy birthday to: Former Bros bassist Craig Logan (35), who met the Goss brothers in the school dinner queue. Presumably this was a few years before their reunion in the dole queue. Also celebrating is Minder and bank advert star George Cole (79).
» Unrelated fact of the day: Cherophobia is the fear of dying from laughter. That would explain the eerie silence around here, then . . .
