California, here we come
REALITY! Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, Five Life, 7.00pm
For ages, we kept seeing Kristin Cavallari's name all over teh internets. We were never quite sure exactly what she was famous for (although her frankly embarrassing guest turn on Veronica Mars made it very clear that whatever it was, it wasn't acting), and then we discovered this show: a reality show about teenagers in a wealthy California town, inspired in part by the success of The OC.
And now it's coming to British telly (unless it's been on somewhere before, which is entirely likely, but if it has we didn't spot it, and there's no need to point it out in the comments or e-mail us, thank you anyway) so we too can discover what it's like to be rich and Californian and toothsome and, above all, real. There's a double bill tonight, wherein Kristin's new car has teething troubles (and if it turns out it's worth more than our house, we won't be sympathetic) and LC gets grounded because of her poor performance at school.
We really do have a shocking weakness for this kind of show. If it's even half as compelling as My Super Sweet Sixteen (both shows have their theme tunes performed by Hilary Duff, incidentally), then we're there.

After youve watched it can you do another post about to what degree you think its staged?
i watched it thinking it was a scripted drama till someone pointed out to me that this represented 'real life' for these dispicable teenagers.

, atits a real good show. ofcourse it may be a little scripted on where the cameras should be, where the lighting should come from, make up 24/7. Its a semi scripted show, the techniques on how they film it is scripted but the drama is not. U can so tell..
