ENDING, FINALLY! Big Brother: Live Final, Channel 4, 8.00 & 10.00pm

Know yourself. Vote Aisleyne. We've got to hand it to Channel 4 and Endemol: they have made it officially impossible not to get drawn into this goddamn show. We've been deliberately avoiding watching it on telly, much as we did last year, and while last year we remained in blissful ignorance of what the housemates got up to, this year we've somehow ended up following all of the shenanigans of Nikki, Aisleyne, Glyn, Lea, Grace, Imogen et al by some form of osmosis.

Of course, the recent vote-someone-back-in-as-long-as-it's-Nikki scandal may have put some viewers off for good, and it remains to be seen whether that becomes the official moment that Big Brother jumped the shark. The important thing, however, is that tonight most of us get our lives back for a few months (at least until the celebrity version starts up again) and we can start watching stuff on E4 that isn't a bunch of ugly childish people sleeping. Hooray!

So, who will it be? At time of writing, Aisleyne, Glyn, Jennie, Nikki, Pete and Richard were all still in the running for the grand prize, and we wouldn't (Aisleyne) like to be seen (Aisleyne) as trying to (Aisleyne) influence the (Aisleyne) voting in any (Aisleyne) way, but there is a certain (Aisleyne) someone we think deserves the (Aisleyne) prize more than anyone (Aisleyne) else. Also: shut up, Davina. And you, Dermot.

She must win. She MUST.

She must wipe the smug grins off Endemol - every unprofessional Big Brother presenter, every money-hungry exec, every cocksucking AP, and every desperate underpaid runner.

Aisleyne is bear safe, dem tings dem. You get me? Trust.

Last might's show and the treatment of Aisleyne made me so angry that I was left a reddening, gurgling wreck. I hope Nikki gets harpooned on her exit.

Dont think she will win but I will keep voting for her at least if just to keep the whinging welsh man out of the frame.

She got to the final three!

I think she's wonderful. I wish I had a friend like her, just so cool with a big, beautiful heart.

I think she will do well irrespective of not winning. THANK GOD! she beat Nikki...that snivelling, troll-faced, nasty piece of work. She was worse than Grace. At least you knew what kind of creature she was, but Nikki has an ugly streak. I'm so pleased she was not well received - hopefully she'll learn something from that.

Aisleyne was the star of this show.

"Aisleyne going back into the house, her laughs, standing up to all the cruelty, becoming a feminist icon when she didn’t even know it and nor did anyone else in the house."

(gist of what the magnificent Paul Morley managed to get past Russell Brand's squawking tonight)

You mean you haven't noticed that less than 24hrs after BB7 finihses ITV's unreality show The X Factor starts up again again. At least Simon Cowell slagging the incompetent and untalented can occasionally very occasionally be interesting. Even if Cowell is so up himself that he choose a mirror for his luxury on Desert Island Discs this week he did comment there that previously people asked what they wanted to do would answer "bus driver", "brain surgeon" now they just reply famous.

Oh, we're well aware of that. But The X Factor doesn't have quite the same life-enveloping tendencies that Big Brother can have, since it's only on once a week (assuming you don't bother to watch the boring spinoffs on ITV2).

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
