Making you appreciate Girls Aloud even more
CRINGE! The Greatest TV Talent Show Moments, Five, 9.00pm
Scarcely a week goes by without some kind of "best 4 seconds of airspace EVER!!!!" compilation filling up a couple of hours of some broadcaster's schedule; indeed, E4 has a trail promoting their own clipshows which mocks (to some extent, anyway) the current trend for clipshows about absolutely everything. That said, this definitely sounds like one of the better ideas that's been forced upon us: think of the guilty pleasure you've been getting watching the audition process in The X Factor over the past couple of weeks. Now multiply that by about a hundred, and you're pretty close to how this show ought to feel. Of course, it's bound to feature some success stories too: we'd be surprised if it didn't feature Will's triumph over Gareth in the first Pop Idol finale, and we know that Abba and Bucks Fizz winning Eurovision will be included, as well as some of the people who began on talent contests only to end up household names (Sheena Easton, for example). Lesser moments that we'd love to feature, but probably won't: Matt from One True Voice walking into the set on Popstars: The Rivals, Nadine's look of sheer relief upon Chloe's elimination, also on PS:TR, Simon Cowell having an enormous bitchfight with Pete Waterman over Darius's performance of 'Let's Face The Music And Dance' on Pop Idol, Mikalah saying "fuck" live on TV during American Idol 4...well, you get the idea. In an inspired piece of casting, Peter Andre presents.
