SHOCKING TWIST

With Coronation Street on a bit of a roll at the moment and Emmerdale making good progress in the ratings war, it's no surprise that the producers of EastEnders have been devising some blockbuster storylines to put them back on top of the soap heap.
If you're expecting more half-baked crime plots starring the World's Worst Gangster (Andy), or you live in constant fear of yet more Jim Branning "comedy" scenes, you will be left wanting.
That's because, if rumours in the Sunday newspapers are to be believed, the soap gurus at EastEnders have come up with a something truly fantastic - ie a helter skelter disaster.
Yes, you read that right - a helter skeleter disaster.
The residents of Walford are going to have a fair in the Square to celebrate the 100th birthday of the market, the centrepiece of which is a piece of magnificent conical slidey goodness. Unfortunately, it's a bit wonky, and the whole lot collapses, trapping many of our favourites in the wreckage. Amazing!
Pauline and Dot are going to be left battling for survival, according to the reports, while Lynne Slater will lose her baby in the calamity, and Ian will be left in a wheelchair after sustaining some nasty injuries.
It's probably too much to hope that Janine will be spotted running away from the scene with a large spanner, but we remain hopeful.

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
