EUROPEAN UNION

The Eurovision dream is already over for the countries who didn’t make it through the semi-final stages. We’ve spotted a few of them sloping around the city looking rather sorry for themselves, and watching them would bring a tear to a glass eye.
They are not all moping around and feeling sorry for themselves, though. Take Diana Lecnic and Simon Gomilsek, for instance. They are the lead vocalists from the Slovenian group, and they were unceremoniously bumped from the contest on Wednesday night.
We are happy to report that they have now picked themselves up, dusted themselves down and got on with something else to take their minds off their defeat – they’ve got married!
They were married on the Sultan’s Boat by the mayor, with last year’s winner, Sertab, as one of the witnesses.
No news yet on whether the UK’s infamous Euro-flops, Gemini, are planning something similar to help them blot out the pain of their nil points score. But, given the prevailing circumstances, it seems rather unlikely.
