FUCK ME FACTS!
Amazing things about Wednesday, March 31:
» The zip was patented in America by Whitcomb Judson in 1896. We wished he'd named it after himself - we'd love to be men about town, proudly displaying a judson down the front of our trousers. You wouldn't want to catch your knackers in a whitcomb, mind you.
» A Japanese company solved the problem of wandering OAPs in 1999, by attaching transmitters to their bodies and tracking them by satellite.
» On the same day, scientists claimed to have invented a fridge for use in space. What? To keep their tubes of mush cold? We say: "Big wows."
» Two years ago, the search was on for a family of four to take part in an experiment at Harrods - they would live their everyday life for a week in a shop window, with coverage being broadcast on the internet, and people voting which household tasks they should perform. We don't actually remember this coming to anything? If it did, please let us know what we missed by clicking the link below.
» The Beatles achieved the unique feat of having the top five singles in the American chart in 1964. Imagine if that were repeated today by Dido *shudder*.
» Joey McIntyre from New Kids on the Block slipped a disc when he was thrown from a horse 10 years ago today. They probably set up a phone line for distressed fans, or something (or not, as the case more than likely was).
» Kylie turned down an offer of £1.2million to get her bits out in Playboy two years ago, while at the same time Geri Halliwell was spending £1,500 to get two tattoos lasered from her back, and Ronan Keating was describing shows like Pop Idol and Popstars "glorified karaoke". We leave you to draw your own conclusions from the latter fact.
» Happy birthday to: Everybody's favourite knob-out actor, Ewan McGregor (33) and Robbie Coltrane 54.
» Unrelated fact of the day: An adult human head weighs about the same as a light bowling ball. But they have a tendency to roll off to the side, what with the nose sticking out and everything.
