» Sooty made his first TV appearance in 1949. He was in black and white, so nobody knew he was yellow for a good few years after that. For all we know, he could have been pink!
» Daphne Zuniga, who played whiny, irritating Jo in Melrose Place, was born on this day in 1962.
» The Tube was shown on Channel 4 for the first time in 1982. Episode one featured The Jam and Mick Jagger.
» Danni Minogue was celebrating one of her many engagements in 1999 – this time to racing driver Jacques VIlleneuve. Sadly, she still lives alone with only her cat for company.
