PHONING IT IN! The O.C., E4, 9.00pm
We really hate to say it, but we’re finding it kind of hard to love this series of The O.C. in the way that we loved the first one. We were willing to give the producers the benefit of the doubt when they assured us that Marissa’s lesbian fling wasn’t just a ratings stunt, and yet they screwed us because it totally was. We were willing to overlook the Sandy and Rebecca storyline, even though it variously bored, nauseated and appalled us. We were even willing to overlook the decreasing amount of Seth/Ryan HoYay!, but the problem is that once we’ve overlooked all of that, the only thing we’re left looking at is the Unchanging Wonder That Is Summer. Still, the plot gets a kick up the arse this week with the arrival of Ryan’s brother Trey. Their parents clearly had a thing for four-letter names involving the letters R and Y.

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
