NO D'OH, NO SHOW
We all know what it's like. You work your guts out for a company year after year, but find the rewards are not forthcoming.
So spare a thought for the six main cast members of The Simpsons, who have walked out of recording sessions for the 16th series of the cartoon unless they get a substantial pay hike.
The cast only currently receives £1.5million for each season, you see, so they're refusing to record the next 22 episodes of the show until the money goes up to £4.25million (or around £194,000 per episode, making them more highly paid than even the most popular American sitcom actors).
Most of the cast took similar action in 1998, when their fees stood at £16,000 an episode, but now feel they need a bigger share of the Simpsons dough-nut.
During the previous strike Fox network bosses had come close to hiring voice-doubles so that recording could go ahead.
We're not quite sure who could suitably replicate the unique character voices, but have been rolling a few ideas round in our heads. Comedian Johnny Vegas as Homer (if not in voice, at least in character)?Gravel-voiced Mariella Frostrup for Marge?
