YOUR EUROVISION EXPERT
This year, we are delighted to introduce the newest member of the lowculture writing team, recruited to make our Eurovison coverage better than ever. Her name is Gigliola, arts correspondent of the popular Spanish daily newspaper, La Cultura Baja.
Her Eurovision credentials are impeccable – she was born on the day of the 1964 contest (March 21) and named after that year's winner. La Gigliola is so captivated by her perceived links to the contest that she spends all of the first quarter of each year travelling around Europe attending heats and trying to get herself selected to represent one of the lesser nations – often using violence instead of the usual telephone voting.
She has the unique distinction of having been thrown out of every contest since 1981, when she was ejected for menacing Jay Aston with a clipboard and a set of curling tongs.
Gigliola will offer her verdict on the UK contenders as the week progresses, and we very much hope she will keep us updated on her exploits for the duration of Eurovision season.
