» In the heady days of 1998, Julie Goodyear was still sufficiently famous to be appointed as a cultural ambassador for Liverpool.
» Stevie Wonder lost his sense of smell on this day in 1973 when his car collided with a truck.
» William A Lee, who played Mr Hooper in Sesame Street, was born on this day in 1908. After his death, a heartbreaking episode of Sesame Street was shown in which the news was broken to Big Bird, who wondered about who would provide his birdseed milkshakes, then everyone cried and had a big hug.
» Melissa George, who was tragic single mum Angel in Home and Away, is 27 today. Barbara Windsor will be blowing out 66 candles, while Saint Geri Halliwell turns 31.
» Yazz and the Plastic Population were at No.1 with The Only Way Is Up this time 15 years ago. As it turned out, the Plastic Population found out about another way very shortly afterwards, and it certainly wasn't up.
