SKETCHES! Little Miss Jocelyn, BBC3, 10.30pm

Little Miss JocelynWe've been doing quite well in terms of sketch shows lately. We've absolutely loved That Mitchell And Webb Look on BBC2, but we feel like we mustn't sell short the equally great Little Miss Jocelyn, which has made us snort most unattractively with laughter on several occasions.

It's the last in the series this week, although we're not hugely sad about that because knowing BBC3's scheduling techniques, it'll probably be running in syndication for quite some time, so it's not like we'll be deprived of seeing it again. On this week's show: a WPC translates from street to English for her befuddled colleague, Sheson gets angry about stopping her bus at a request stop, Gladys is left in charge of a class of infants and carnage is only narrowly avoided, and Dan Hunter from Hollyoaks turns up, which is nice.

It's apparently been doing rather nicely in the ratings (it comfortably beat Russell Brand's Got Issues on E4) and we're hoping that it'll be back for more, because our lives are brighter now thanks to Mrs Omwukwupopo (who sadly does not appear in tonight's episode).

Also, I noticed yesterday that the DVD of Series 1 is already on sale! The series isn't even finished yet.

I find this show insulting, As a black female I was excited to hear about it's conception but it's nothing more than a minstrel show.

this is the worst comedy show ever broadcast on the BBC - just not funny, and could only be entertaining to very small children.

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
