BOFFIN! A Town Called Eureka, Sky One, 9.00pm

A Town Called EurekaRemember our little rant about the renaming of Everwood as Our New Life In Everwood by ITV? It seems that was just the tip of the iceberg, as when we were trying to do a bit of research about this show, we found a hot debate going on over on Sky's messageboards about this show, which is apparently just called Eureka in America. WILL THIS MADNESS NEVER END?

Anyway, this one sounds interesting in a kooky sort of way (although we know next to nothing about it, it could be an entirely straitlaced drama for all we know) - at the end of World War II, a top-secret town was founded in America as a home for the country's most advanced intellectual resources. A town of genius, if you will. It doesn't appear on any maps, except for a couple of top secret ones in the Pentagon, and though it's provided America with some of its finest scientific advances, it's also got more than its fair share of absentminded professors conducting odd experiments with unusual results.

It doesn't seem to be drowning in a sea of pretty as far as we can tell, which probably counts as a black market against it in our book, but it does look like it could have its moments with a cast of zany characters and a bizarre premise. And hell, we couldn't find anything else worth talking about tonight, except mentioning Property Ladder for the umpteenth time...

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
