HUH? Sinchronicity, BBC3, 11.00pm

SinchronicityWe caught a trailer for this show the other day, and we had a sudden sense of déjà vu (one that was entirely unrelated to listening to Beyoncé's new single, we hasten to add). Had our old favourite show As If suddenly been recommissioned and moved channels to BBC3? Nope, it turned out that two of the cast happened to be cast together again in another drama - this time likely to be a little bit on the "wahey!" side, if you know what we mean.

Apparently this is very much in the style of a British, blokey Sex and the City, and whether that's a compliment or not rather depends on your opinion of the original - opinions which are split here at LOWCULTURE towers, where some of us think it's great and some of...me thinks it was an overrated ungodly pile of shit. But this is neither the time nor place for that discussion: the general plot of this show focuses around Nathan (Paul Chequer) falling for Fi (Jemima Rooper), which would be fine if it weren't for the fact that she's his best friend's girlfriend.

Not that original, we grant you, but the trailer looked cool and so we're recommending it to you. Apparently this episode was already shown once on Sunday, but we completely missed it, so here's a second chance for those of you who share our plight. Also an excellent point of recommendation: the utterly ace Camille Coduri (Jackie Tyler from Doctor Who) will be in it, she plays a porn baroness, and she will be swearing. Holla!

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
