SITCOM! Out Of Practice, Living TV, 8.30pm

Out Of PracticeAs much as we've adjusted to the post house-moving reality of not having cable and got used to the many wonders of Freeview, there are still points where we really miss having Living TV. The times we fancy a Charmed marathon, for example, or the news that a new series of Britain's Next Top Model begins on Monday. And also, because we would have quite liked to have seen this sitcom.

It doesn't seem to have had particularly good fortune Stateside, after CBS cancelled it having only aired fourteen episodes. It's not entirely surprising, since it has two well-known show killers in the cast (Paula Marshall and Christopher Gorham), and as much as we love those two for their work on Veronica Mars, Popular and Jake 2.0 amongst others, we can't help thinking the casting director was asking for trouble.

Anyway, if you want to catch what exists of this show on Living tonight, it centres around a dysfunctional family of doctors, headed by Henry Winkler and Stockard Channing, who announce their separation in the first episode of the show, we believe. As for the kids: one's separated from his wife, one's a manwhore, and one's a lesbian. Hardly groundbreaking, but seriously: we'd sell our favourite kitten* to actually watch a show with Henry Winkler, Stockard Channing, and Christopher Gorham in it. Sigh.

*Animal rights activists note: we do not own kittens, and wouldn't really do this even if we did.

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
