NEW! ITV4 Launch Night, from 7.00pm

If ITV aren't careful, they're going to get a song in an AUSTIN POWERS movie listing the numbers of all their channels. Yep, hot on the heels of ITVs 1, 2 & 3 comes new kid on the digibox ITV4. We'll be honest at this point and say that we've never watched ITV3 at all, but we gather that it does very well and that ITV are nicely pleased with it, so hoorah for them.

So, ITV4. You may have noticed little tiny hints that this channel was about to launch over the past week or so. You certainly won't have been inundated with them during every ad break when all you really want to do is sit back and enjoy THE X FACTOR. Like ITV3 and More4, it's setting its cap at a fairly grown-up audience, so it stands to reason that we probably won't be including it in our highlights too often in the future.

But! It's the launch night tonight and we're feeling generous. There's the new remake of KOJAK which might be quite good fun. Ving Rhames takes over from Telly Savalas as the lollipop-sucking detective. Our notes say "insert fellatio joke here." There's also lots of football, if you're into that sort of thing (nb. this is not the same as FOOTBALLERS WIVES or DREAM TEAM) and THE LATE SHOW which is, appropriately enough, on rather late. Jolly good. We gather there are currently no talent shows or soap operas, however, so our interest pretty much ends here.

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
