GIRLS! Sugar Rush, Channel 4, 10.50pm
Let us look at the facts: this is a drama about teenage lesbianism. It’s adapted from a book by Julie Burchill. It’s on Channel 4. It’s in the almost-eleven-o’clock slot occupied last week by a late night edition of Hollyoaks. It’s safe to say, in that case, this show is probably going to offend some people. However, we like to think of ourselves as pretty fearless, and certainly very difficult to offend, so we’re going to point out that the trailers have made this look pretty interesting, and we think it’ll be worth a look. Another reason for its recommendation is that it stars Olivia Hallinan (who must surely be qualified for that “rising star” accolade by now) – a gold star to those of you who recognise her as Ellie from Girls In Love, and a Jane Asher cake for those of you who remember her from her halcyon days in Julia Jekyll And Harriet Hyde.

"It's flammable you tit!" - got to be one of the best lines in tv history hasn't it??

Superb show so far. Just hope they have something meaningful going on instead of Sugar 'just trying it out' when things get moving.

thank you channel 4 for this top program, olivia hallinan is fit

Olivia Hallinan is sexy ummm ummm and she was a perfect choice for the role of kim!! it would be great if she were a lesbian in real life!!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 3:23 am

It's a great show, and Olivia / Kim is fantastic to watch on screen. She is a true star and is going places thats for sure.

If it's possible to fall in love with someone you only know through two shows on T.V. lol then I'm falling in love with Olivia, she's definitily marriage material. I adore her, she's so cute.

i have facied olivia hallinan since she appeared in girls in love which i have watched every chance i can get just so i can see her. i never liked julia jeckyll though, i thought it was a rather shite program as far as kids shows go. its really good to see her in something new though and she is looking fine as ever. i missed the first two episodes of sugar rush because i only saw a trailer for the 3rd episode where i recognised her and ive watched every episode since then. hope she keeps up the good work and we see her in something soon. im definatly buying the DVD!

Olivia is my sister and im soo happy you all like the program! you wont believe me im sure but im actually telling the truth! I love you Liv and i hope u keep up the good work!! xxxx

Olivia is fit as f***!
And the Irish girl aint bad either....!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2:10 pm

Olivia Hallinan, oh my god you are gorgeous, you remind me so much of my ex girlfriend it is unture (sad i know) but hey bugger it....WILL YOU MARRY ME???????

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2:59 pm

Falling in love with Olivia seems to be the effect she has on lots of people, myself being one. I do find it slightly anoying as it is obviously a waste of my affection when I should be looking for a real girlfriend rather than a charcter on a screen.

Which also makes me wonder is it her or the characters she portrays that make me so facinated by her..?

Having said all that I do think she is going to be a big star in the not to distant future.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:15 pm

Damnit, damnit, DAMNIT - there seems to be quite a few contenders for Olivia's heart - as Kevin said. I know that I stand no chance in reality anyhow, but it's still disheartening.

lol, man I'm sad. And need a girlfriend.

But anyway, Sugar Rush was good regardless of whether she played in it or not.

I live in fallowfield, South Manchester. I do hope she is still there when i go back in september. Her appeal to me, apart from her natural beauty, is her permanantly dialated eyes. Totally awesome. I am sure her hair was more red in colour in previous productions though!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:21 am

Don't think moving to Manchester is an option for me.
And I have missed the last 2 episodes due to being to tired after work...so I think I'm going to have to wait for the DVDs.

Trouble is if I have her on dvd then I won't be able to stop watching and thinking about her...

What problems life throws at us..

Everyone keeps goin on about Olivia being fit! Yes she is but have you seen lenora?? The programmes good too.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5:07 pm

Defo a candidate for a British Lindsay Lohan. I thought it as soon as I spotted her. Plus she looks like a girl I like from College.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:19 am

Olivia is so fuckin fit if only she was a lezbian in real life that would be greate luv ya xx

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:58 pm

olivia is a rude, stuck up cow.
My boyfriend lives with her and god how shallow and brain dead can you be?!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:21 pm

are you sure you aint just jealous cause in that small mind of yours you can imagine your boyfriend banging her brains out every night? Dam, even if he aint I bet he is trying ... have you tried ringing him? I wonder if he answers his phone? Perhaps he is with her right now? I wonder who he would choose if he had to?

hehe or perhaps your right and she is a stuck up cow and your boyfriend is not controlled by his dick. But still, beats living with my missus, I mean I think If I forget to put the toilet seat down once more she is going to beat me with the new one she bought.

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
