» The world's first degree course in bagpiping was launched in 2000 – in Canada, of all places.
» John Travolta and Olivia Newton John laid waste to all before them in 1975 when they ascended to the top of the charts with You're The One That I Want.
» It's the anniversary of Enid Blyton's birth, in 1897, today. Still-alive people with birthdays include wrestling bod Hulk Hogan, who is 50, and Rocco Ritchie, spawn of Madge and Guy, who is three. Aaaaw!
