WWJDIO #2
Day two for the big J in Orkney, and where better for a look back at the island's former inhabitants than Skara Brae?
The Neolithic settlement is nearly (all together now) FIVE THOUSAND YEARS OLD, and laid undiscovered for centuries until a sandstorm* uncovered it once again.
That's even older than the Bible. But if we don't come home with a wider view of the world, then what's the point of travelling?
Find out more here.
*Orkney wind is a force to be reckoned with. We weren't the only family who had a garden shed/hen house that moved a clear 10 feet during the night without the aid of a pickup. Come the next day, it was the only one with skidmarks on the underside of the roof, though.
