Weekend Low Points

The schlock you won't want to miss this weekend
SATURDAY
» Big Brother USA 4pm, E4 ... If you're pining for whatsisname and whatshername from the British Big Brother already, why not give this US version a try? They've been in the house for a little while already, so this is a catch-up show to help you fill in the gaps in your knowledge. Expect fireworks, though, as some of the American housemates have found themselves banged up with their ex-partners.
» Fame Academy 6.30pm, BBC1 ... One of the most unexpected comebacks in TV history. Will the Academy be able to produce singers of the calibre of Pippa and Nigel two years in a row? Let's hope not, eh? This year, there is added comedy Robin Gibb.
» Pop Idol: One Year On 8.30pm, ITV2 ... Oh, Kate Thornton! For a while there, we thought you had left us! But now you are back, and we really couldn't be happier. Hopefully you will be revealing what you have been up to in the long months since you last thrilled us with your presenting skills, as well as catching up with the memorable, and not-so-memorable, Pop Idol contestants.
SUNDAY
» Will and Grace catch-up from 5pm, Living TV ... Six episodes back-to-back. As it's Will and Grace, you are guaranteed at least one really terrible one in the bunch, but there should be enough evil one-liners from Karen to make up for any disappointment.
» Where The Heart Is 8pm, ITV1 ... Lesley Ash makes her last appearance tonight, before departing in an extremely unlikely storyline which will see her leaving her husband and daughter behind to go and look after her smackhead son in London. Somehow, we don't think we will be weeping quite as much as we did the week they turned off Peggy Snow's ventilator.
» Big Brother's Little Brother's Big Reunion 11.15pm, Channel 4 ... Dermot O'Leary presides over an uncomfortable evening of the former housemates eyeing each other suspiciously across the room.

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
