Amazing things about July 19:
» The Spice Girls made their debut on Top of the Pops in 1996. Hoorah for Top of the Pops debuts!
» Jane Fucking McDonald, her off that cruise ship programme, knocked the Beastie Boys off the top of the album charts in 1998.
» Ten years ago, the video for Take That's Pray (which was at No.1 in the charts at the time) was making teenage gay boys up and down the land want to do bad things to themselves. Not us, though. Ahem.
» Speaking of the That, it's a whole year since Mr Gary Barlow was allegedly making enquiries about the current status of the waxwork of him that had once taken pride of place at London's Rock Circus. It was claimed he desired the head, for his own purposes.
» Sarah Lancashire signed a golden handcuffs deal with ITV to play Sarah Lancashire in a series of identical dreary drama serials in 2000.
» Angela Griffin, star of Coronation Street, Holby City and Cutting It – and therefore one of TV's Queens of lowculture – is 27 today.
