NOICE! Kath & Kim, BBC2, 10.00pm

Kath and Kim: noice, different, un-yews-usualHoo-flippin'-rah for that. It feels like twenty thousand years since the last (and indeed first) series of Kath and Kim finished on BBC2 (it's probably less than that in actual, real time), and our lives just haven't felt the same since. That hasn't stopped us from quoting the classic lines from series one to anyone who'll listen, and several who won't: "I wanna be effluent, Mum!" "Y'are effluent, Kim!" "My marriage is over. O-V-A-H!" and our personal favourite, the scene with Prude and Trude where Kath's getting her wedding list sorted: "Oh, I hope he's sober. We still have a stack of jojoba left over from October." and Kim's befuddled "Mum! Do you want a...through for your cotch?" Brilliant.

Ahem, where were we? Oh yes: new series. So we last saw the bridal party in traction after Kath's white stallion went crazy for Kim's genuine horsehair ponytail at the wedding, and all is still not well in Fountain Lakes. Kath's accident has ruined her libido, so she's trying out various ways to get things back on track sexually with her hunk o' spunk husband Kel. Kim's marriage, meanwhile...ah, who knows? Probably not even Kim, for that matter.

We'll be sitting poised waiting for this at 10pm - heck, we're even going to tape the season finale of Big Love to ensure that we don't miss it. We'd like to issue a premature apology to everyone who we'll drive insane tomorrow quoting it: sorry folks...

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
