OBSERVE! The Law Of The Playground, Channel 4, 9.30pm

The Law Of The PlaygroundMultimedia phenomenon, this one. From website to book to TV programme. So, while we roll back smugly in our chair and await the mass of publishers and producers beating a path to LOWCULTURE Towers in the hope of securing the rights to turn this humble website into a book and TV show (we're hoping that Tracy-Ann Oberman will be drafted in to play us, or Su Pollard at the absolute least), we'll continue with our fine work and discuss this here programme what is on the telly tonight.

It's provoked quite the response from the lovely, lovely users of our messageboard, so rather than us prattling on in our usual hopelessly uninformed way, why don't we see what they had to say about it? "I really enjoyed it," said LoveMusic. "The speakers were good and topics were funny." ScissorSister begged to differ: "Some of it was funny, some of it was toss." She also added, "I think they could have got better people to do it. All the people on it are such twats! (except for lovely David Mitchell.)" FeelsLikeSex agreed: "I refuse to watch it for the simple reason that it keeps Alex Zane in employment." back to discos was keen to discover the identity of "the chap who sits at the back of the coach and looks dapper", aka LOWCULTURE favourite Mathew Horne, and it's over to WhiteNoiseMaker for the final word: "Half of this programme is an excuse for bullying cunts to remember their days bullying people, laugh at it, have a load of silent-majority hoobs watching it laugh along with them, and get PAID FOR IT!"

So there we have it: the opinions of the discerning readers of this esteemed website, which may or may not influence your decision to tune in later. If you'll excuse us, we're off to make some phone calls to see if we can get Shannen Doherty to play our best friend.

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
