Brothers in arms
SWOON! Supernatural, ITV2, 11.00pm
We originally wrote this last week, but due to the darned football, this episode got postponed. Still, it's saved us some writing today, so hurrah for that. It's been a tough ride for those who've been following TV's prettiest brothers on ITV1 - the show's been moved all around the schedule and dropped with scant notice at times. Here we are, folks: season finale time.
We don't want to spoil too much for the people who've been watching this series faithfully and waiting for this very moment, but let's just say that there's a lot to get through this evening: first of all, they need to take out that little Satan-worshipping tramp Meg. But will she be able to provide them with any useful information about the whereabouts of their father beforehand? And is she really all that she seems? We're not giving it away, we promise. Then, of course, there's the small matter of the evil-ass demon that set alight to their mother, Sam's girlfriend Jessica and a bunch of other people. And if you thought rescuing their father was going to be easy, then you've probably not seen this show before, because no episode is complete without at least one of the brothers getting his pretty, pretty face mauled to some extent. And with this being the last episode of the series, expect the ante to be upped somewhat. And if the physical scars aren't enough for you, well let's just say that Sam's Eternal Guilt over the death of Jess raises its head again, as do Dean's Inferiority Complex And Daddy Issues. People wishing to give the brothers Winchester a great big hug, form an orderly queue behind us, please.
And it being the season finale, there's one bastard of a cliffhanger that had fans rending their garments in angst and praying for the show to survive the transition to the new CW network in America. Good news: it did, and season two is a lock-on. That's 22 more episodes of ridiculously pretty angst, kickass demon hunting, classic rock music and vaguely incestuous homo subtext, everyone. Hurrah!
