SCI-FI! Battlestar Galactica, Sky Three, 8.00pm

Battlestar GalacticaW00t! Sky have finally got around to airing this much-praised show on the Freeview-friendly Sky Three, and we could really not be happier about it. We missed it all when it was on Sky One, but we've had friends inform us that it's Really Quite Good Actually, and now's our chance to see for ourselves.

Don't let the slightly dodgy-sounding title put you off (that was what kept us away at first, if we're honest), this is quality sci-fi. We were going to do some extensive research about the show's mythos on the interwebnet, but unfortunately our internet connection at home is an enormous bastard and has decided to cut out on us, so we're having to do interpret everything from cave paintings as best we can. So, if we can lift everything from the Radio Times, let's say that what survives of mankind is in a far corner of the universe, trying to get back to Earth and away from the machines that turned against them. The Cylons, however, aren't too keen on that as a general concept and would prefer to, y'know, wipe out mankind entirely before it gets that far. And the best bit? There's no way of telling who's a Cylon and who isn't, because they look exactly like them. Er, us. You know what we mean.

More information we do not currently have, due to the internet's aforementioned total bastardness, but this ticks all the required boxes by being an excellent combination of thought-provoking high quality sci-fi and filled with really pretty people. That's quite the clincher, we reckon.

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
