Lame pun about getting in gear

TransmissionFridays, eh? We always find it hard to think of things to recommend for you guys to watch on Fridays - possibly because TV schedulers, bless them, think we've got better things to do on Fridays than sit in and watch the box, so they don't schedule anything of any great note. Er, and we do have better things to do, of course! It's you lovely people we're thinking of. Honest. Cough.

This one, we've caught a few glimpses of, and it seems not-too-bad. Given that CD:UK is currently off the air and undergoing a major re-tooling (and given that Dave Berry is rumoured to be the new presenter, our use of that word could be spookily accurate), and Top of the Pops is no more (sniff), we need to get our weekly music fix from somewhere, don't we? We still have our fears that we'll never see Girls Aloud on this show, because it seems to be geared at cool acts who write their own songs and play guitars, but in this barren age we'll take whatever we can get as far as live music on TV is concerned. Plus Lauren Laverne is presenting (along with Steve Jones), and our teenage obsession with Kenickie means that we will follow her to the grave.

This week ought to be awesome because they've got Guillemots on the show, and those of you who missed their performance on TOTP really missed a benchmark of awesomeness (though you can of course view a 30 second clip on TOTP Online and we will not be drawn on whether the performance can also be viewed on other other generic video streaming sites), so if their performance on this show is half as good as that, it's well worth staying up late for. Er, we mean, coming home from the pub early for. That's right.
