Grrr! Argh! Etc!

When the final credits rolled on the second series of the fantastic comedy Spaced, a little part of us died.
So how happy we are that the part in question* has returned, albeit in grisly, blood-splattered zombie form.
In fact, the trailer for Simon Pegg's latest project, Shaun of the Dead, was the best bit about our weekend trip to see the decidedly average Starsky and Hutch**.
Billed as "a romantic comedy with zombies", the film follows the unlucky-in-love, unluckier-with-zombies store worker Shaun (Pegg) as he battles to save the relationship with his girlfriend.
While not directly connected to the Spaced, fans will be pleased to see a fair helping of the cast take starring roles in the film, which was co-penned and directed by the show's director, Edgar Wright.
As well as Pegg, Jessica Stevenson (Daisy), Nick Frost (Mike) and Peter Serafinowicz (Dwayne Benzie) take to the big screen (we would have loved to see alcoholic landlady Marsha Kline or troubled artist Brian cleave a few zombie skulls as well, but you can't have everything).
Also appearing will be Lucy Davis (The Office) and Dylan Moran (Black Books), and you'll find everything else you need from the atmospheric Shaun of the Dead website, where you can view the trailer and hear samples of the soundtrack. The film is released on April 9, and we plan to be there, cowering behind our popcorn.
» In other news, Nicole Kidman is starring in a remake of the campy and creepy 70s classic Stepford Wives (more on that later). Unless there's a cameo from pre-Fairy era Nanette Newman, though, we just don't know if it'll compare with the original.
*No, not that bit.
** Okay, okay, Snoop's afro and Ben's disco-dancing did make us smile.

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
