Saturday's Low Points

The schlock you won't want to miss today
» Pop Idol 7.05pm, ITV1 ... We still remain fully entertained with the audition shows for this year's programme. We're not sure anything will beat Eye of the Tiger guy, though.
» The National Lottery: Winning Lines 8pm, BBC1 ... Turgid show, but we've bought a ticket and will hang around long enough to hear the numbers.
» Fame Academy 8.45pm, BBC1 ... Tune in to see who gets the boot tonight (or at 6.10pm if you actually want to hear them sing). We fear Simone could be for the chop unless she pulls out a stunning performance this evening.
» Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring 6pm, Sky Movies Premier ... Orlando Bloom looking svelte and sexy as Legloas in the first installment of the trilogy. We can almost forgive him the blonde wig. There's also something about a ring, as far as we recall.

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
