Amazing things about June 27:
» Michael Ball, one of Britain's many Eurovision also-rans, is 41 today. His song, One Step Out Of Time, is ageless. And Spiderperson Tobey Maguire is 28.
» It's four years since the UK was in the grip of Vengaboys fever, with Boom, Boom, Boom sitting pretty at the top of the charts. We might like to write off the whole experience as some kind of ghastly collective hallucination, but it really happened.
» According to the book we get all this crap out of, nothing of note ever happened to anyone who wasn't Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones or Kylie Minogue. They also claim that Julia Roberts and Lyall Lovett were married on this day in 1993, which they also claimed on Wednesday. Mind you, we can't complain – we've had the date wrong every day this week. Let's just wipe the slate clean and start again tomorrow, eh?

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses.
We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
