Big Sister
NUNS! The Convent, BBC2, 9.00pm
As crazy as this might sound, there are those people who prefer their reality shows to be a little quieter than the likes of Big Brother. And they don't get much quieter than four women enrolling themselves in a silent order of nuns, do they?
This being BBC2, it's less of a competition and more of a straightforward documentary - as far as we're aware there's no prize, no public vote, no hidden twists where a deeply suspicious stripper enters the convent two weeks later (although really - how awesome would that be?). There are just the four ladies taking part, by the names of Victoria, Angela, Iona and Debi. Three of them are from arty-farty backgrounds, one is a businesswoman, and they all feel that they have something to gain from life by taking holy orders for 40 days and 40 nights. Possibly because they watched that movie and saw how things worked out for Josh Hartnett, but that's unconfirmed.
It's scheduled up against Big Brother in what seems like a fairly brave move, but if this year's housemates aren't to your liking (and we're going to be honest here, one or two exceptions aside, they're certainly not to ours), you might find this more the sort of programme that you'd like to unwind in front of with a nice cup of tea.
